02 Aug Mosupatsela High school and Madiba Comprehensive set face off at the Mogale High School tournament finale

On the 3rd of August the inaugural Finals between Mosupatsela High school and Madiba Comprehensive High will take place at Kagiso Senior Secondary School. The hosts have now been nicknamed Egypt since they did not qualify for the knock out phase.

The overall 10 school tournament was filled with drama, as we continued to witness the twists and turns in the race to qualify for the knock out phase.

The thrilling Semi Finals which took place early this week included Mosupatsela, Madiba, Boipelo and Nic Diederichs.

To refresh our memories a little bit; Semi Final saw Madiba Comprehensive win against Nic Diederichs 3-0 during Game 1. For Game 2, it was a 2-2 draw between Mosupatsela Secondary and Boipelo Secondary (and Mosupatsela advanced on Penalties with a 6-5 score.

The only team yet to experience defeat is Madiba Comprehensive while the team with the highest number of goals is Mosupatsela. Currently, the leading goal scorer is Right Wing, Kgotso Maleka who has been linked with PSL club, Highlands Park and is also a former player of Jomo Cosmos development team.

The unstoppable player has represented Gauteng Province at Under 19 Provincial Tournament and was the 2017 Winner of Under 19 Provincial Tournament at Durban. In 2018, he scooped Highlands Park Under 19 Player’s Player of the Year award and this year, he was named Player of the Tournament at Steven Pienaar Annual Tournament.

To enhance a spirit of local economy, the trophies for the tournament were designed and made by one of the schools – Nic Diederichs Technical High School. Advertising boards were made by Signs R Us who sponsored the trophy for the team spirit of the tournament award.
